The Russian space simulation for eight cosmonauts women
An experimental program on Earth simulating the conditions of a mission return to the Moon was launched October 28, Russia. The crew of the program consists of eight women and follows the program of Mars 500. The "Moon-2015" is carried out by the Russian Institute of Medical and Biological Problems and includes 30 experiments. Women aged 22 to 34 take part.
"We decided to tailor the program specifically for women to study and understand what physiologic changes might occur in the body of a woman during a similar expedition in a situation of isolation from the outside world," said the director of program, Sergei Ponomarev.
During the program, women inhabit two modules 150 and 250 square meters in isolation. Communication with the outside world will be limited. The fulfillment of the program is scheduled for November 4, 2015.
Recall, the date of the
actual flights of Russian cosmonauts and their moon landing is scheduled for the year 2029. In 2021 it was planned to begin flights aboard a new spaceship made from composite materials and designed for missions to the moon in 2023 would be the launch and docking of the ship to the ISS, and in 2025 the autonomous flight and exercises on a technology for sending astronauts to the moon.
First question, why do we find it intriguing, different from usual. After all, the Mars 500 crew had consisted only of man, and no one shouted "why are there only men? ".
But this time, many media have questioned. And this highlights a difficult truth to hear is that the majority of explorers of all human history were men and not women (ex: Apollo) the fact that man walk on the moon, but not yet the woman. So it is time to catch up with the 21st century damning delay.
Second interesting point and it is to the credit of Russian is that this experience is a tremendous social and psychological experience for extreme missions and confined. If the results prove conclusive, the staff of our submarines could be replaced by women.
There where the projection is interesting is in the future of space exploration. Would our Martian colonies will consist of a majority of women ? Maybe, but I do not think so. Indeed, as Mars One has planned to do so, creating a colony and a new population will be in compliance with the parity man woman. We expect the results of this experiment forward!
