Space Race 2.0
The Russian company Energia recently announced at the 66th International Astronomy Congress in Jerusalem, that the priority of the Russian space program was the manned exploration of the Moon.
At the same time, NASA launched a new wave of selecting astronaut who would be the first American generation to walk on Mars, what rich and exciting new!
But when do we will consider that the new space
race has really started ? To find out, let us return to the origin of the Space Race 1.0. The launch of the Russian Sputnik (1957) and the announcement of US President John.F.Kennedy whose objective is to send a crew safe on the moon before the end of the decade (1961), and finally Apollo 11 and the first man on the Moon, in 1969. Subsequently, it was considered that this race for space had begun after the announcement of Kennedy, because then the two space agencies worked very hard and over short deadlines. So the race was the warmest in this decade.
But Russian and American as well as European and Chinese have officially unveiled their ambition to go to the moon and Mars. Only the tension, the competition do not feel like the heart of the Cold War. This space race is a game of chess, the pieces fall into place, but the party has not started yet.
So what will be the event which will mark the beginning of this race? Probably a US announcement or Russian, Chinese maybe. Great power show such a level of progress in its exploration program than other nations will hurry to want to catch up, and will do anything to impress the world in turn.
Because men on the Moon and Mars are planned for 2030, and we are in 2015, knowing that the Apollo missions 10 years implemented the announcement at the first men on the moon, we can predict that around 2020, Space Race 2.0 will begin!
